Senior Engineer -Data Management

Job Description Senior Data Engineer Must Have Technical/Functional Skills

• 5+ years experience with Linux systems
• 5+ years experience supporting services, micro‑services, and n‑tier systems
• 5+ years experience in virtualization tools such as Vagrant, Packer
• 2+ years experience in provisioning tools such as Cloud Formation, Kubernetes
• 2+ years experience with software automation technologies
• 2+ years experience with Continuous Integration practices
• 2+ years experience with Infrastructure as Code practices
• 5+ years experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl
• 2+ years experience with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet
• 2+ years experience with build tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Ivy, Ant
• 2+ years extensive experience with Amazon Web Services
• Works effectively both independently and as a member of a cross‑functional team
• Part of the 24x7 operations support team, flexible to work in different shifts (early morning, late hours, etc.)
• Must be available and willing to work extended hours as occasionally needed, including weekends and holidays, to meet business needs

• Design and implement architecture for n‑tier systems and micro‑services.
• Apply Agile software development methodology.
• Collaborate using version control tools (Git, Git Hub, Subversion) and platforms (JIRA, Confluence, Wiki).
• Containerize services with Docker/swarm and manage service discovery and key/value stores (Consul, Etcd, Zoo Keeper).
• Operate services such as Apache, NGINX, HAProxy, PHP, Tomcat, Node.js, MySQL, Mongo
  
  DB.
• Use monitoring tools:
  Datadog, New Relic, Splunk.
• Make best practices recommendations for infrastructure and operations.

• An obsessive desire to automate as much as possible.
• Experience with Kubernetes and the latest SRE tools and practices.
• Hands‑on expertise in provisioning and managing environments in both internal data centres and the cloud.
• Experience in performing software development builds and automated testing.
• Generic managerial skills, if applicable.

$100,000 - $120,000 a year
