About The Role:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Software Engineer to be part of our Missile Defense team and based out of our Mount Laurel, NJ location. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven workflows, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. Clearance & Location Requirements:
* All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
* This is a 100% on-site position, based at our Mount Laurel, NJ office.

Key Responsibilities

What You Will Do:

* Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement features, resolve defects, and enhance system capabilities.
* Develop high-quality, maintainable code in accordance with engineering, security, and quality standards.
* Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis activities.
* Integrate software components, APIs, and third-party technologies into existing systems.
* Support software deployment, modernization, and continuous improvement efforts.
* Create and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, and operational procedures.
* Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through deployment and sustainment. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Who You Are (Required):
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
* 3+ years of professional software development experience.
* Experience developing software using one or more programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
* Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
* Experience working in Linux-based environments.
* Familiarity with SQL and relational database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL).
* Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI-compliant containers.
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
* Ability to travel up to 10% as required. What Makes You Stand Out:
* Prior professional experience with Aegis Weapon System.
* Experience supporting the development, modernization, or sustainment of complex software systems.
* Experience with scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, Power Shell, or Groovy.
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices.
* Experience working within Agile development environments.
* Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops  principles and secure software development practices.
* Experience with cloud-native technologies, container orchestration, or platform engineering concepts.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical solutions and communicate project status effectively.
