Location: Whippany

What will you be doing? Barclays Services Corp. seeks an AVP Software Engineer - Full Stack in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available).

  • Design, develop and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our Trading desk.
  • Provide Level 3 support to the trading desk and interlock with other technology teams when needed.
  • Manage tech debt upgrades for the underlying infrastructure, including operating system, Java runtime libraries, database, and caching software.
  • Perform reviews on code implemented by other developers.
  • Work with QA or independently validate changes being deployed into production.
  • Manage deployments including CR creation, deployments, and post‑implementation reviews.
  • May telecommute pursuant to company policies (Hybrid role).

Minimum Salary: $160,805 per year

Maximum Salary: $175,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilizing various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
