Senior Java Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer with strong AWS expertise to support enterprise application development for IBM/Barclays
. The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of hands‑on software development experience
, with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, AWS cloud services, and distributed systems
.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable, secure, and high-performance applications within a large enterprise banking environment.

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/J2EE and Spring Boot
  .
• Develop scalable Microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Build and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS
  .
• Work with AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, IAM, Cloud Watch, and Cloud Formation
  .
• Develop event-driven and distributed applications using Apache Kafka or similar messaging technologies
  .
• Implement application security, authentication, authorization, and secure API development practices.
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, or similar platforms.
• Deploy and manage applications using Docker and Kubernetes
  .
• Perform application performance tuning, troubleshooting, debugging, and production support.
• Write efficient, reusable, testable, and maintainable code following enterprise coding standards.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito
  , or similar frameworks.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development and security standards.
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, Dev Ops teams, and other developers.
• Work within Agile/Scrum development teams and participate in sprint planning, grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance when required.

• 8–10 years of Java application development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java 8/11/17+.
• Extensive experience developing Microservices and REST APIs
  .
• Strong hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services
  .
• Experience with Kafka / event-driven architecture
  .
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
  .
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins or Git Hub Actions
  .
• Strong understanding of design patterns, distributed systems, API design, and cloud-native architecture
  .
• Experience with automated testing using JUnit and Mockito
  .
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
• Good understanding of Agile/SDLC methodologies
  .

• Previous experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Capital Markets
  .
• Experience working in large enterprise environments such as Barclays or other major financial institutions
  .
• Knowledge of AWS IAM, security, networking, monitoring, and logging
  .
• Experience with Terraform or AWS Cloud Formation
  .
• Knowledge of Redis/Elasti Cache or other caching technologies.
• Experience with observability tools such as Splunk, Cloud Watch, App Dynamics, or Dynatrace
  .
• AWS certification such as AWS Certified Developer or AWS Solutions Architect is a plus.
