About this role

The Manager, Championships plays a critical role in supporting the successful planning and execution of the U.S. Girls’ Junior and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships. This position maintains a balanced portfolio of responsibilities across both outside-the-ropes operations and inside-the-ropes competition support with a focus on championship operations, USGA Office Management, player services, committee relations, host club relations and planning. The Manager works closely with host clubs, vendors, volunteers and USGA departments to ensure a best-in-class championship experience and contributes to broader departmental projects and other USGA championships as assigned.

What

you’ll do
  • U.S. Girls' Junior and U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship
    • Lead for outside-the-ropes planning and on-site execution, including player registration, accommodations, signage, volunteer coordination, host club gifts, food and beverage services and overall vendor coordination
    • Serve as a point of contact for the Host Club committee and staff for all championship planning efforts
    • Serve as a point of contact for players and lead all player services efforts
    • Work closely with Championship Administration in managing championship related equipment and coordinating all shipping and receiving related to each event
    • Coordinate with relevant USGA departments (i.e., Player Relations, Partnerships, Communications, Marketing, etc.) to integrate services and functions into championship operations
    • In collaboration with the Championship Directors, work closely with Regional Affairs on championship invitations/assignments/needs
    • Serve as the main point of contact for USGA Office operations, rules officials and championship-week logistics
    • Support inside-the-ropes tasks as requested such as whole locations, course marking, pace of play preparation and Rules documentation
    • Assist the Championship Director with site visits, budgeting and host manual development
  • Serve in a supporting role at other USGA Championships
    • Support other USGA Championships in Rules and operational capacities as assigned
    • Duties may include course marking, pace of play monitoring, Rules administration, vendor coordination, on-site logistics, crowd management and shuttle operations
  • Championship Department Projects and Initiatives
    • Participate in internal task forces or working groups as assigned
    • Contribute to documentation updates, training materials, and refinement of championship best practices
Where you’ll be

This role will be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus on a hybrid schedule. Employees are expected to spend 3 days per week working in the office, between Monday – Thursday. Remote candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The Manager, Championships will be expected to travel 80-100 days per year.

What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 4+ years work experience in golf tournament administration or related field
  • Demonstrated ability in golf tournament administration (both inside and outside the ropes) at the national, state or regional level is preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Rules of Golf and experience with course setup and marking (score of 90 or higher on PGA/USGA Rules Exam preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor in working with host clubs, committees and vendors
