Swan Creek Rowing Club (SCRC) in Lambertville, NJ is seeking rowing coaches for the 2026 rowing season (April to November) to support our Competitive Masters teams.
Goal:
Support the SCRC Masters in building a competitive experience, improving fitness and strength, rowing skills, self-esteem and teamwork.
Manager:
Reports to SCRC Board of Directors, with direction from the club President or Masters Competitive Programs Coordinator
Schedule:
4-8 hours per week, April through October, including weekend regattas (depending on program schedule)
Location:
SCRC Boat Site - Lambertville Boat Ramp in Lambertville, NJ
- Design and deliver training plans tailored to the skill levels and goals of Masters rowers, including recreational and competitive groups
- Lead on-the-water practices and operate a safety launch while coaching rowers independently
- Provide clear and actionable feedback to refine rowing technique, helping rowers improve their efficiency and performance
- Conduct safety briefings and educate rowers on proper rowing technique, boat handling and waterway navigation
- Monitor water and weather conditions to determine practice suitability, ensuring the wellbeing of all participants
- Use drills, technical exercises, video analysis and other feedback to enhance individual and team performance
- Set lineups for practices and races
- Attend regattas and support Masters rowers during competitions as needed
- Collaborate with other coaching staff and club leadership to align programming with club objectives
- Perform routine safety checks of equipment and report maintenance issues promptly
- Experience coaching rowing, preferably Masters and commitment to athlete development. Strong knowledge of rowing technique, training principles and race preparation
- US Rowing coaching certification, Level 1 required (Level 2 or higher preferred), or willingness to obtain certification. CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
- New Jersey or Pennsylvania boating license (or willingness to obtain)
- Able or willing to learn iCrew app for managing program logistics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to drive a launch with 2 stroke engine (or willingness to learn)
- Ability for early morning, evening or weekend practices based on the program schedule
