Preferred Fuel is a small Family-owned Veteran Run Fuel company specializing in home heating oil deliveries as well as commercial diesel fuel and gasoline.

Role Description

This full-time, on-site Fuel Delivery Driver role is based in Kenvil NJ. The Fuel Delivery Driver is responsible for safely loading, transporting, and delivering fuel (such as heating oil, diesel, and gasoline) to residential and commercial customer locations according to scheduled routes. Day-to-day tasks include conducting pre- and post-trip inspections of delivery vehicles, following all safety and environmental regulations, and accurately completing delivery tickets and logs.

The role also involves interacting professionally with customers, answering basic service-related questions, and reporting any service issues or delivery challenges to the dispatch and operations teams. The Fuel Delivery Driver is expected to work in varying weather conditions, maintain a clean and organized vehicle, and collaborate with team members to ensure reliable, timely service.

Qualifications
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (such as tanker and hazardous materials) and a strong driving record.
  • Experience operating fuel delivery trucks or similar commercial vehicles, including performing routine safety checks and basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of safe fuel handling procedures, DOT regulations, and applicable state and local transport requirements.
  • Ability to perform manual labor tasks such as lifting hoses, climbing in and out of vehicles, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail for completing delivery documentation, tickets, logs, and basic inventory records accurately.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills to interact with residential and commercial clients in a professional manner.
  • Reliability in adhering to schedules, following routing instructions, and coordinating with dispatch and operations staff.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in fuel delivery, transportation, or related fields is beneficial.
  • Experience loading at the terminals in Linden and Newark strongly desired.
