POSITION

OVERVIEW

The Propane Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of propane to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This position involves operating specialized delivery vehicles, adhering to safety regulations, and providing excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to the transportation and delivery of propane. Essential Functions:

Propane Delivery Operations:

Safely operate a propane delivery truck, following pre-established routes to ensure timely deliveries.

Deliver propane to various locations, including homes, businesses, and construction sites, adhering to scheduled delivery times.

Loading and Unloading Procedures:

Conduct inspections and loading of propane tanks at the distribution facility, ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly.

Use appropriate safety protocols and equipment for unloading propane tanks into customer storage systems.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations governing the transportation and handling of hazardous materials, including OSHA and DOT regulations.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Monitor for leaks and ensure that all safety valves and shut-off systems are operational during loading and delivery.

Customer Service:

Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery details, service options, and safety information.

Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide guidance on propane usage and safety measures.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate delivery records, including quantities delivered, customer signatures, and any discrepancies.

Complete necessary paperwork for regulatory compliance, including delivery tickets and safety documentation.

Emergency Response:

Be trained and prepared to respond to emergencies, such as propane leaks or accidents, following established emergency procedures.

Participate in ongoing safety training and drills to ensure readiness for emergency situations.

Vehicle Maintenance:

Perform regular maintenance checks on the delivery vehicle, including fluid levels, brakes, tires, and safety equipment.

Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the fleet manager or maintenance team promptly.

Training and Development:

Stay current with industry regulations, safety protocols, and company policies related to propane delivery and handling.

Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge about propane systems and customer service.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Licensing:

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements (Haz Mat endorsement may be required).

Experience:

Previous experience in propane delivery, fuel delivery, or a related field preferred.

Familiarity with DOT regulations and hazardous materials handling is a plus.

Training:

Completion of safety and hazardous materials training programs.

Certifications in propane handling or delivery may be advantageous.

Skills:

Strong driving skills with a clean driving record and excellent navigation abilities.

Basic mechanical skills for vehicle inspections and minor repairs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry heavy propane cylinders (up to 50 lbs) and other equipment.
