Job Summary

The Sr. Manager, Warehouse will ensure a warehouse culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost through meaningful engagement with warehouse leaders and associates, building best‑in‑class service to customers, and operating safely and profitably. The role involves receiving and storing inbound product, loading outbound product, and maintaining the safety and security of the entire facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Achieve all safety, service, and cost targets in the warehouse. Lead with a safety mindset that ensures every US Foods associate remains injury free. Champion safety procedures, processes, and training to create and maintain a safety‑first culture.
  • Oversee and develop Warehouse Managers through coaching, training on policy and procedures, problem resolution, and leading by example.
  • Develop all warehouse associates by discussing performance with Managers, creating plans to address gaps, driving engagement and retention, and embodying US Foods values.
  • Create a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open and directing workforce to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Build high‑performing teams by reviewing staffing requirements, monitoring hiring, coaching to achieve productivity and safety targets, and delivering disciplinary action.
  • Develop production flow processes and identify process improvement and cost reduction strategies. Establish and maintain operational procedures for verifying incoming shipments, handling and disposition of product, inventory accuracy, and loading shipments.
  • Identify and stop waste, and improve processes for safety and efficiency.
  • Approve operation plan for daily loads with Warehouse Managers, ensuring trucks are completed on time and load plans meet weight restrictions and special customer requests.
  • Monitor operational data, including inventory losses, production goals, and safety reports. Identify problems, determine causes, and recommend changes to the VP of Operations to achieve a zero‑error benchmark on accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure integrity of products and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Oversee maintenance of the warehouse and equipment to comply with OSHA requirements.
  • In union facilities, assist HR and the VP Operations in interpreting the collective bargaining agreement, administering discipline, settling routine grievances, and participating in arbitrations as required.
  • Other duties assigned by manager.
Supervision
  • Directly supervise:
    Warehouse Managers, union and/or non‑union warehouse clerical staff (Operations Clerks, Warehouse Clerks, Will Call Clerks, Slotting Clerks, Truck Builders, etc.).
  • Indirectly supervise:
    Union and/or non‑union warehouse on‑floor associates (Loaders, Selectors, Receivers, Forklift drivers, etc.).
Relationships
  • Internal:
    Warehouse leaders and coworkers;
    Transportation leaders;
    Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales).
  • External:
    Vendors.
Work Environment
  • Normal warehouse environments and cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as –5 °F.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of experience in warehouse supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people‑development skills.
  • Effective communication with all associates and departments.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control systems – a plus.
Travel

Approximately 10% travel for mandatory meetings and/or training.

Education and Training
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HACCP certification – a plus.
  • PCQI certification – a plus.
Physical Qualifications

Must be able to stand and walk frequently, drive a vehicle (forklift, pallet jack) occasionally, sit occasionally, lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs occasionally, push/pull and perform other routine tasks. Lifting or carrying over 100 lbs is not required.

Compensation

The expected base rate is between $85,000 and $135,000, depending on relevant experience, education, skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law.
