Summary:
  • Acts as a substitute secretary to the principal and supports school operations by facilitating communication, assisting with problem solving, material acquisition, record keeping, and registration.
Qualifications:
  • Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrate excellent office skills and practices. This includes, but is not limited to, being proficient in Microsoft Office, Google, general bookkeeping, organizational and filing skills, data management and information retrieval
  • Possess a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills necessary to favorably meet and communicate with our school community
  • Present evidence of physical exam to determine "fit for duty", evidence of being free from communicable disease (TB), and submit to criminal background check
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Organize and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of school related tasks
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions
  • Successfully deal with problems involving different variables
  • Get along with people and display patience to all school community members
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
  • Act as a receptionist, greeting visitors, answering telephone calls in a pleasant and efficient manner, and communicating effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters
  • Maintain school records, including student/staff attendance
  • Distribute mail and handle correspondence of the office
  • Orders, processes, and maintain office materials and equipment
  • Make announcements and operate school intercom systems
  • Administer basic first aid and administer medication when needed
  • Orients substitute staff
  • Assist with arrival and dismissal including changes in transportation
  • Assist with lunch routine and procedure
  • Assist the Principal and designee and staff in handling interruptions and emergencies, calling for assistance when needed
  • Display ethical and professional behavior. Serve as a role model for the school community by demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, accepting responsibility, and effective work ethic,
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Principal or designee
Employment at-Will (Policy 5:270):

Unless otherwise specifically provided, District employment is at-will, meaning that employment may be terminated by the District or employee at any time for any reason other than a reason prohibited by law, or no reason hing in School Board policy is intended or should be construed as altering the employment at-will relationship. Exceptions to employment at-will may include employees who are employed annually, have an employment contract, or are otherwise granted a legitimate interest in continued employment.

The Superintendent is authorized to make exceptions to employing nonlicensed employees at-will but shall maintain a record of positions or employees who are not at-will.
