New Lenox School District 122 is hiring a 10 Month Building Secretary starting May 1, 2026.
Position Title:
10 Month Building Secretary (Category
B). Report To:
Principal(s). Benefits: NLSD offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and additional optional benefits. See attached contract. Starting Salary: NLPSSC Contract - see contract. Total Work Days: 210 (Including Paid Holiday).

8 Hours Per Day. Paid Holidays:
9. Sick/Personal Days: 10/3 Days. Condolence Leave: 3-5 Days.
Serves as secretary to the principal and as facilitator for the school being served in communicating information, problem solving, material acquisition, record keeping, and registration.
Qualifications- Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate excellent office skills and practices. This includes, but is not limited to, being proficient in Microsoft Office, Google, general bookkeeping, organizational and filing skills, data management and information retrieval.
- Possess a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills necessary to favorably meet and communicate with our school community.
- Present evidence of a physical exam to determine "fit for duty", evidence of being free from communicable disease (TB), and submit to a criminal background check.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Organize and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of school related tasks.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Successfully deal with problems involving different variables.
- Get along with people and display patience to all school community members.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Act as a receptionist, greeting visitors, answering telephone calls in a pleasant and efficient manner, and communicating effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters.
- Maintain school records, including student/staff attendance.
- Distribute mail and handle correspondence of the office.
- Orders, processes, and maintain office materials and equipment.
- Make announcements and operate school intercom systems.
- Assist the Principal and designee and staff in handling interruptions and emergencies, calling for assistance when needed.
- Administer basic first aid and administer medication when needed.
- Orients substitute staff.
- Assist with arrival and dismissal including changes in transportation.
- Assist with lunch routine and procedure.
- Display ethical and professional behavior.
- Serve as a role model for the school community by demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, accepting responsibility, and effective work ethic.
- Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
