The successful applicant will be expected to provide medical expertise in the fieldof Adult CMHT Psychiatry. The key responsibilities and expectations are:

Responsibility for the investigation, diagnosis, and management of psychiatric disorders in acommunity setting for patients aged
18-65 years.

Providing clinical leadership,support, and advice to the adult community mental health team.

Contribution to the Care and Recovery framework process for individuals who are care co-ordinated.

Supervising one of the staff gradedoctors.

Close working relationships withother parts of the mental health care group.

Fulfilling the role of Responsible Officer for detained patients on long term leave in the community, working closely with the Mental Health Law Office to ensure timely delivery of tribunal report sand other documentation linked to Jersey Mental Health Law.

Working collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and the voluntary sector.

Liaising with other medical specialties and primary care colleagues as required.

To record clinical activityaccurately and contemporaneously on the electronic patient record system andsend letters to GPs.

Participating in the in-houseteaching programme.

Fulfilling the CPD requirements setby the Royal College of Psychiatrists and participating in a peer group.

Participating in the development and delivery of training programmes for a variety of disciplines aimed at improving the level of expertise and the standard of care for adults with mental health needs within Health and Community Services.

Participating in the all-age 1:14on-call rota for psychiatry and contribution to the day on call rota for MHLawassessments.

Working with managers and professional colleagues to ensure the efficient running of the services and toshare with consultant colleagues the medical contribution to the management ofthe service.

Complying with Health and Care Jersey's agreed policies and procedures.

Working effectively with partner organisations who provide services to people with mental health problems andco-morbidity issues as appropriate.

Engagement in service development activities, audits, and monitoring.

• Experience of assessing and treating adult patients in community psychiatric settings
• Experience managing clozapine and depot prescriptions.
• Experience of work in UK hospital systems (or equivalent, not just shadowing)
• Knowledge and evidence of participation in CPD
• A sound understanding of clinical governance
• Experience in inpatient psychiatry
• On call experience covering adults and older people
• Experience using Mental Health Law in community settings.
• Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service

• Recognised basic medical degree
• Full GMC registration
• - To have obtained CCT and be on specialist register
• - To Have obtained CESR and be on specialist register or,
• - Within 6 months of obtaining CCT with recommendation of programme director
• Eligibility for Section 12 approval
• MRCPsych or equivalent…
