New Lenox School District 122 is seeking a full-time Diagnostician for the 2026/2027 school year.
Position Details- Assignment:
Diagnostician - Number of Positions: 1
- Start Date:
August 18, 2026 - School Year: 2026–2027

- Illinois LBS1 Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience
- Knowledge in the area of diagnostics, disabilities, and program planning
- Reviews referral information and contacts appropriate personnel and parents to obtain pertinent referral information
- Evaluates the academic abilities of students through observation, interview, formal and informal assessments, and file reviews for the purpose of determining special education eligibility
- Writes diagnostic reports and interprets assessment findings
- Schedules and attends eligibility meetings to report on evaluation results
- Makes recommendations to the educational team regarding IEP goals/objectives, accommodations/modifications, and services based on assessment findings.
- Responds to formal requests for a special education evaluation
- Consults/collaborates regularly with staff regarding the instructional program and student performance
- Consults with the building's RtI team regarding intervention plans and decision to evaluate for special education eligibility
- Participates in IEP meetings as an LEA representative
- Supports the District's behavioral management program and participates in the de-escalation process as designated
- Supports the organization, management and implementation of the state assessments
- Performs additional duties, as assigned by the Principal/designee for the Program.
- Regularly required to bend, reach with hands and arms, sit on a chair, sit on the ground with students, kneel, crouch, stand, crawl, walk, and navigate stairs.
- Be capable of physically assisting students as required (positioning, lifting, transferring,etc.)
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to verbally communicate and the ability to hear effectively
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board'spolicy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
- Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
