Overview
Theoris Services is assisting a Chicago-based financial advisory firm in the search for a Senior Associate to join a high-performing restructuring and transaction advisory team. This role blends traditional investment banking execution with hands-on distressed and restructuring work, including short-term liquidity forecasting, bankruptcy-related analysis, and advanced financial modeling. The Senior Associate will work directly with client executives, creditors, and senior leadership on complex operating situations, playing a key role in financial triage, valuation, and restructuring engagements.
Responsibilities- Conduct advanced industry, company, and market research
- Build and customize complex financial models and valuation analyses
- Prepare client-facing materials including pitch decks, management presentations, CIMs, and teasers
- Support sell-side, buy-side, restructuring, and financial advisory engagements
- Perform comparable company and transaction analyses
- Review discounted cash flow assumptions and capital structure models
- Execute liquidation and debt capacity analyses
- Develop 13- and 26-week cash flow forecasts for distressed situations
- Prepare bankruptcy-related schedules and financial analyses
- Provide support across active restructuring and bankruptcy cases
- Supervise and mentor junior associates
- Engage directly with clients, creditors, and stakeholders in fast-paced environments
- 2–5 years of experience in restructuring, investment banking, credit, or principal investing
- Strong hands-on financial modeling skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Experience with Capital IQ, Pitch Book, Bloomberg, Octus, or similar financial research tools
- Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, CPA, or CFA (or in progress)
- FINRA Series 63 and 79 (or willingness to obtain)
- Completion of a formal investment banking analyst program
