Base pay range$65,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr
Chicago Meat Authority (CMA) is proud to have celebrated 34 years in the food industry. Located in Chicago’s historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward thinking processor of value added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and Multi‑unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores.
In addition, CMA specializes in custom cuts for further processors including but not limited to grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market.
CMA is looking for an individual who thrives on building quick, meaningful connections in a poised, confident, and energetic way. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and thrives on tackling diverse sales activities, managing multiple projects at once in a fast‑paced environment. Success in this position requires a motivating and collaborative approach to working with others across the organization to achieve shared goals.
Key Responsibilities- Selling trimmings to further processors
- Selling whole muscle meat as an ingredient to further processors
- Selling commodity fresh and frozen meat to exporters
- Identify and create new business opportunities
- Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with clients
- Ability to call cold and prospect new business
- Experience in commodity‑based selling
- Strong networking skills, including a passion for meeting people and for relationship building that deliver strategic results
- Ability to prioritize and multi‑task, organizing own workload to maintain high quality and output while achieving set deadlines and targets
- Perform as an aggressive self‑starter with high energy level and strong work ethic
- Leads with integrity, is reliable, trustworthy, mature and self‑confident
- Excellent analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree or successful sales prospecting, sales development and account management experience
- Proficient with PCs and office software
- Proven track record of selling fresh meat to institutional or industrial buyers
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly in an evolving food industry environment
- Positive attitude and passion for exceeding expectations, both personally and professionally
- Commitment to excellent customer service and cultivating long‑term partnerships with clients
- Ability to work independently while also being a supportive, collaborative team player
Entry‑Level Candidates (No Experience, Training Provided): $65,000 - $75,000 per year
- This range is for candidates who require training and development. Expectations will be adjusted accordingly, with a longer runway for achieving results.
Experienced Candidates (Proven Sales Ability): Up to $125,000 per year
- This range applies to candidates who can contribute immediately and generate sales from day one. Expectations will be higher, and the performance timeline will be shorter.
