The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for driving commercialization of the ingredient portfolio, with an initial focus on Purus Pro barley protein. This role emphasizes proactive customer outreach, opportunity qualification, and pipeline development to support revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities Customer Outreach & Pipeline Development- Execute structured outbound prospecting campaigns (email, Linked In, phone) to build a qualified sales pipeline, initially focused on Purus Pro.
- Target priority segments including bakery, cereals and bars, snacks, pasta and noodles, and meat/TVP applications across Europe and selected U.S. accounts.
- Identify customer needs, applications, and key decision-makers; prioritize engagement strategies for target accounts.
- Follow up on trade show contacts, inbound inquiries, and marketing-generated leads.
- Own and maintain the CRM/customer engagement tracker, ensuring accurate documentation of outreach, meetings, samples, and next steps.
- Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, advancing high-priority opportunities through to conversion.
- Provide regular pipeline and activity reports to the broader Foods team.
- Consolidate distributor screening insights into structured regional proposals.
- Support preparation of commercial materials and account briefs for distributor engagement.
- Monitor and analyze competitive activity within plant protein and adjacent fiber categories.
- Gather customer feedback on competitor products and share insights with commercial and technical teams.
- Identify whitespace opportunities in target applications and represent the voice of the customer in strategic discussions.
- Partner with Applications, R&D, and Marketing teams to support trials, sample coordination, and technical follow-up.
- Assist in preparing for customer meetings, presentations, and trade events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated interest in food ingredients, nutrition, and the agri-food sector.
- Strong outbound prospecting skills with a proactive, hunter mentality.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and confidence managing CRM systems and data trackers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercially driven, curious, and eager to learn.
- Experience with Linked In Sales Navigator, CRM platforms, or advanced Excel skills is preferred.
