Actively contributes to the management and enhancement of the Com Ed Physical Security Program to ensure regulatory compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Department of Energy (DOE), except nuclear business units. Develops security plans of Com Ed’s critical infrastructure as required to meet state, federal and industry regulatory requirements. Works with business units to identify critical assets and conduct vulnerability assessments.
Provides operational security recommendations. Implements physical security standards. Researches and guides the implementation of integrated, cost‑efficient, physical security systems (CCTV, Command Center, Intrusion Detection & Alarm Systems, Access Control, etc.), for the company’s significant operating facilities. Responsible for the development and safe operation of the company’s physical security program. Manages development and implementation of access and perimeter control operational procedures, conveying and verifying security requirements.
Manages the protocols by which intrusions, or would‑be intrusions, are deterred, detected, delayed, recorded, and the accompanying response. Conducts comprehensive physical security surveys of new (under construction) or as‑built facilities. Conducts, and teaches others how to conduct, routine security inspections. Acts as liaison to field operations in the areas of design and implementation of physical security systems, identifies and recommends electronic access control equipment, monitors performance, and identifies synergy opportunities on a continuum.
Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for others in the Security department, as well as for other company disciplines such as Engineers and Operations Supervisors.
- Ensure compliance through vulnerability assessments and assurance audits with appropriate regulatory agencies including but not limited to NERC, FERC and DOE (25%).
- Strategic planning of physical security systems including implementation, oversight, supervision of operations, configuration management and disaster recovery (20%).
- Technical evaluation of security products for implementation as Corporate Standards (10%).
- Development and management of Security Department technical systems, including coordination of installers, vendors, and internal stakeholders (15%).
- Define security project scope and requirements, develop timelines and milestones, and track progress of ongoing security projects (20%).
- This position will interface with operating management to develop, implement, and maintain an integrated physical security system compliant with Exelon’s physical security standards, which protects critical infrastructure assets, but does not impact normal business operations.
- Works under minimal supervision, is a self‑starter to address issues and concerns without direction.
