Data Center Service Technicians travel to customer sites to start up, commission, and safely troubleshoot and repair Data Center equipment. This position requires independent work, strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage projects while on site for start‑up commissioning and coordination of other trades and services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Perform factory start‑up, commissioning, warranty and billable service on Munters Data Center equipment and systems.
- Maintain and protect Munters equipment and property.
- Respond promptly to all service requests from customers and management.
- Provide customer training on Munters equipment.
- Provide technical feedback on equipment through detailed field service reports.
- Deliver instant response to customers’ needs as part of a team, ensuring availability for urgent or non‑urgent requests.
- 5+ years of experience and extensive knowledge in the mechanical field, specifically HVAC.
- Frequent travel required, up to 90% across the USA by plane and car.
- Extensive knowledge in electrical troubleshooting with proficiency in diagnosing issues and recording data.
- Knowledge of all safety procedures and requirements, and training in arc flash, lock‑out tag‑out and other safety requirements; familiarity with PPE for electrical safety.
- Extensive refrigeration knowledge; able to pressure test, evacuate, and charge systems independently; proficient in brazing and soldering; holds a universal refrigeration card.
- Extensive knowledge in controls; experience troubleshooting, programming, or downloading to control systems; understanding of PLCs and ability to access information and make adjustments via computer.
- (Optional) State‑licensed master HVAC mechanic with required experience, training and testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
- Effective communication with site personnel, Sales PM, Service Manager, and Technical Support.
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school desired.
- Heavy work:
Exert up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently or constantly to move objects. - Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting.
- Close visual acuity required for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer terminals, and expansive reading.
- Must wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection where required.
- Ability to travel and be away from home for several days at a time.
- Willingness to take on‑call duties as required.
- Willingness to occasionally work weekends and/or holidays.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Willingness and ability to work 6 feet or more above the ground as required.
