Uses chairside, four‑handed dentistry techniques. Responsible for providing assistance to the dentist during dental procedures. Ensure smooth operation of the dental office. The role is both clinical and administrative, providing patients with care as well as supporting the dental team in an effort to maintain efficient workflows.
Roleand Responsibilities
- Assisting during Procedures
:
Prepare patients, manage instruments and suction, and ensure smooth progress of treatments. - Patient Care
:
Provide comfort, excellent customer service, post‑operative instructions, and address patient questions. - Sterilization and Infection Control
:
Sterilize instruments, disinfect treatment areas, and maintain infection control logs. - X‑Rays
:
Take quality dental radiographs as directed and ensure proper processing. - Electronic Health Record
:
Navigate EHR and complete charting per dentist instructions. - Stock Management
:
Keep the office stocked and manage inventory of dental materials. - Patient Education
:
Instruct patients on oral hygiene and post‑treatment care.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Assisting School or two years experience in general dentistry.
- Certified in Dental Radiology by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
- Certified in Infection Control and meeting state CE hour requirements.
- Knowledge and passion for caring for a diverse patient population.
- Bilingual fluency in language spoken by our patients (e.g., English/Spanish or English/Polish) strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, patient‑focused attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Attention to detail and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Complete required competencies and training in a timely manner.
- Flexible to travel to other sites and a team player who communicates properly.
Requires good manual dexterity, fine motor coordination, good vision, mobility and flexibility; light lifting; exposure to blood borne pathogens. Must follow OSHA standards and universal precautions.
Work Schedule DemandsWork as scheduled with some evening and weekend hours as needed. Flexible to travel to other site as needed.
