JOB PRIORITY:
To support the classroom teacher in providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that nurtures the academic and social-emotional development of young learners in a diverse, internationally-minded school community.
TYPICAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction and supervision of a certified classroom teacher:
* Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate learning activities that align with early childhood education best practices and international education themes.
* Assist with the preparation, organization, distribution, and clean-up of classroom materials and learning centers.
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to reinforce learning and promote independence.
* Encourage positive behavior, social-emotional growth, and respectful interactions among students.
* Help maintain a safe, clean, and inclusive classroom environment.
* Assist with transitions, routines, and classroom management throughout the school day.
* Participate in ongoing professional development, including training related to early childhood education, cultural competence, and the international frameworks.
* Support the school's commitment to multilingualism, global citizenship, and inquiry-based learning.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, principal, or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Associate's degree, minimum of 60 college credits, or successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment (or equivalent).
* Experience or interest in working with early childhood or elementary-age children.
* Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
* Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and globally aware classroom environment.
* Additional qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of Education.
