Job Summary:

Teaches content and skills in music to middle school students

Duties/Responsibilities:

* Supports ISAAC's Core Values and Beliefs About Learning and the Vision of the Graduate

* Utilizes expertise in music to revise the curriculum to meet the level of rigor for all students in a cultural and diverse classroom

* Instructs students through lessons that are engaging and motivates all students to succeed in the common core state standards

* Provides individualized and small group instruction in music, band, and chorus

* Adapts Music material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.

* Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with ISAAC's instructional philosophy and congruent with the goals of the school

* Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps accurate and appropriate school records, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.

* Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.

* Promotes student discussion through the daily use of Accountable Talk

* Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the course standards for music

* Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.

* Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning and health problems

* Communicates with parents and SRBI Team on student progress.

* Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the work day.

* Participates in faculty committees and engages in Professional Learning Community activities.

* Administers summative assessments in accordance with the curriculum and SDE requirements.

* Models professional and ethical practices and behaviors in all activities

Education and Experience:

* Classroom teaching experience and proven record of high achievement with middle school students preferred.

* Bachelor's degree from a competitive college or university;
Master's degree a plus.

* Certification:
Valid CT Certification.
