The New London Public Schools Magnet District is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to join our diverse and inclusive school community. With opportunities across multiple grade levels, you'll play a key role in supporting students with disabilities in achieving academic, social, and emotional growth while promoting equity and access for all learners.
As a Special Education Teacher, you will:
* Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
* Design and implement specialized strategies and accommodations to meet diverse learning needs.
* Collaborate closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, specialists, and families to support student success.
* Maintain compliance with all special education documentation and procedural requirements.
* Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student independence and self-advocacy.
* Supervise teacher aides and volunteers assigned to your classroom.
Qualifications:
* Connecticut State Certification: 065, 165, or 265 (as required by state certification standards).
* Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
* Strong instructional, organizational, and communication skills.
* Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
Reports To:
Special Education Supervisor
Salary and Benefits :
* Salary range based on professional experience and the New London Education Association (NLEA) contract.
* $1,000 hiring bonus may be offered to new employees certified in a shortage area (as defined by the Connecticut State Department of Education).
* Retention bonus of $750 annually for up to four years with contract renewal.
