Priority Duties and Responsibilities
- Career Advising:
Provide individual career advising to students and alumni, including: assisting them with academic and career planning and exploration, helping them with goal setting and internship/job searching, and providing feedback on resumes, cover letters, Linked In profiles, graduate school/fellowship essays, etc. - Classroom Instruction:
Deliver classroom instruction for career preparation course, teaching multiple sections of a one-credit, 7-week, for-credit course focused on topics of:
Professionalism, Exploration, Storytelling, and Networking. - Program Development:
Contribute to the Hale Center for Career Development (HCCD) team by developing and executing an innovative career development program, including: collaborating with the team to evaluate, develop, and update the four-year career and academic planning curriculum. - Internal and External Partnerships:
Connect and partner with academic departments, centers/pathways, programs, and faculty to share resources and information to extend the Hale Center's programs, resources, and support of student success. - Resource and Workshop Development:
Develop, collate, and share resources specific to students and alumni seeking international internships or employment. Partner with other offices and centers focused on global learning to provide career integration workshops, such as leveraging study away in career preparation.
- Provide one-on-one career advising to students and alumni, helping them develop academic and career plans aligned with their goals, values, and interests.
- Support internship and job searches, graduate and fellowship applications, and industry exploration.
- Maintain advising records and caseload documentation.
- Advise approximately 320 students in Career Preparation Courses and provide feedback on applications and reflections.
- Assist in selecting and training Career Fellows.
- Collaborate with campus partners to promote accessibility and career services.
- Lead workshops and teach multiple sections of a 7-week Career Preparation Course focused on professionalism, exploration, storytelling, and networking.
- Develop and deliver additional career-related presentations as needed.
- Collaborate with the Hale Center team to design, evaluate, and improve career development programs and curriculum.
- Contribute to advising materials, lesson plans, and program delivery to ensure consistency and innovation.
- Partner with academic departments and campus offices to share resources and support student success.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and professional associations (e.g., NACE, EACE, Small College Career Alliance).
- Support outreach efforts, including social media and campus communications.
- Advise students through pre-law exploration, internships, and the law school application process.
- Collaborate with faculty co-advisors and maintain current knowledge of pre-law trends and resources.
- Update pre-law resources and support related student organizations.
- Lead information sessions and prepare annual program reports.
- Serve as a Staff Advisor for a First-Year Seminar, supporting student transition and success.
- Connect students to academic and co-curricular resources.
- Collaborate on career-focused programming for first-year students and maintain regular communication to support engagement.
