Special Education Teacher - New London, Connecticut

Qualifications and

Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification (required)
• Experience teaching in self-contained or resource settings at the high school level preferred
• Deep understanding of neurodiversity and ability to adapt instruction for diverse learner needs
• Commitment to creating equitable, inclusive learning environments
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities with staff, students, and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the individual IEPs of neuro-diverse high school students
• Develop, modify, and implement lesson plans aligned with student goals
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
• Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, related service providers, and families
• Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that prioritizes students’ academic, social, and emotional growth
