Position OverviewPlan and deliver targeted instruction designed for English Language Learners (ELLs) to promote student achievement and increase GED exam pass rates for all four subtests:
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
- Develop customized instructional content using AI tools to address language barriers and cultural contexts specific to ELLs.
- Implement differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse needs of ELLs.
- Participate in professional development to enhance knowledge and skills using AI tools effectively to support ELLs academic progress.
- Administer standardized assessments including CASAS level tests and GEDReady exams to evaluate ELLs language proficiency levels, skills gains, and readiness for the Official GED exam.
- Collaborate with colleagues, grant administrators, and Digital Navigator to continuously improve instructional practices and resources for ELLs.
- Facilitate opportunities for staff to share best practices, effective instructional strategies, and insights gained from their experience teaching ELLs in the GED program.
- Monitor students' attendance, participation barriers, academic progress, and future plans to identify appropriate accommodations to support student retention and achievement.
- Participate in bimonthly data team meetings to analyze classroom performance and Measurable Skill Gains (MSGs), implement data-driven strategies, and maintain accountability for progress toward Priority Area objectives.
- Actively pursue professional learning through AI-focused webinars, podcasts, and emerging educational technologies.

- Must hold a valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) educator certificate with an endorsement in one or more of the following endorsement areas: 088 ESL and 107 GED as applicable.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience.
- Prior teaching experience in an environment with adult learners and ELLs in particular
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.
