Part-Time Resident Assistant (Live-In)

International Student Residence Hall | New London, CT
$18-$20/hour + Free Housing + Meal Plan

Are you passionate about supporting students and creating a safe, welcoming living environment? APEX International Education Partners is seeking a Part-Time Resident Assistant (RA) to help supervise international middle and high school students living in a small residence hall on the beautiful waterfront campus of Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut.

This is a unique live-in opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring young people, values cultural diversity, and wants to make a meaningful impact on students from around the world while enjoying free housing and campus amenities.

Position Overview

The Resident Assistant will support the Full-Time House Parent by providing evening supervision, overnight presence, and student support within a residence hall housing international students attending nearby private schools.

For the  academic year, the residence hall will begin with approximately 10 students and may grow to accommodate up to 25 students.

What You'll Do
  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and supportive residential environment
  • Conduct nightly room checks and ensure student accountability
  • Supervise students during assigned evening and overnight shifts
  • Monitor student behavior and adherence to residence guidelines
  • Provide basic support and guidance to students as needed
  • Respond to minor concerns and communicate more serious issues to the House Parent
  • Assist in fostering a respectful, inclusive, and community-oriented atmosphere
  • Be available for emergencies during assigned duty periods
Schedule
  • Live-in position during the academic year (mid-August through mid-June)
  • Four duty nights per week
  • Includes weekday and weekend coverage
  • Two weekends per month include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday duty nights
  • On-site duty hours are 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM
  • Remain on-call overnight during assigned shifts
Qualifications
Required
  • Fluent in English
  • Responsible, dependable, and mature
  • Comfortable enforcing rules and maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred
  • Mandarin Chinese language skills
  • Experience working with teenagers, students, youth programs, camps, schools, or residential communities
  • Valid driver's license
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification
