The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Center for Arctic Study and Policy invites applications for a temporary Research Professor of Arctic Studies, with a desired start date of August 3, 2026. The Academy seeks a faculty member who will conduct rigorous research on Arctic‑specific issues and deliver undergraduate coursework, seminars, and instruction in the Arctic domain.

• Conduct research in Arctic studies and policy, publishing resultant scholarship under the auspices of CASP.
• Teach courses, seminars, or other academic instruction within the Arctic specialization.
• Facilitate learning enrichment opportunities for cadets via speakers, travel, and contacts.
• Co‑advise undergraduate advanced research projects.
• Mentor and collaborate with CASP staff and Coast Guard Academy faculty.
• Represent CASP at international and domestic conferences and workshops and engage with senior Coast Guard leadership.
• Advise and provide input on interdisciplinary curricular development in Arctic studies and policy.

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a discipline supporting Arctic studies and policy.
• Record of distinguished scholarship and publication relevant to contemporary Arctic issues.
• ABD candidates must demonstrate that the terminal degree will be awarded before July 26, 2026.

• Scholarship concentration in areas such as climate science, economics, operations research and data analytics, Arctic indigenous peoples/culture, ocean/maritime policy, international relations, political science, innovation, emergency management, maritime/international law, or organizational behavior and management.
• At least two years of higher education teaching experience, or equivalent professional experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, teaching, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Willingness to travel in support of the research agenda, including to the Alaskan Arctic.
• Security clearance of at least SECRET.
• Demonstrated commitment to the Coast Guard's core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty.
