- Perform system operation and student training in accordance with user manuals and lesson plans
- Load and configure training scenarios for training evolutions and student feedback sessions
- Simulate target vessel activity by responding to radio calls from traffic vessels using proper radiotelephone communications procedures in accordance with CGTTP 6-1.1 (series)
- Perform role-based exercises as lookout, commanding officer, and traffic vessels, simulating internal and external communications as required by training scenarios
- Operate and maintain shipboard simulation systems
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities with third-party maintenance support
- Support cadet and student training at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy
- Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain; clearance must be complete prior to starting employment
- Working knowledge of maritime rules of the road, including both U.S. Inland and International Rules
- Knowledge of and operational experience with maritime bridge console components, including Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and radar displays
- Direct operational experience developing and conducting training scenarios within a higher-education or service academy institution
- Maritime afloat experience with operational bridge leadership
- USCG afloat expertise contributing to required training factors supporting merchant mariner credentialing
- Ability to function in a bridge-simulator training lab and general office environment on the USCGA campus
- Ability to remain in a stationary position at a simulator console for extended periods during training evolutions
- Ability to move around the simulator facility and campus as needed to support training setup, exercises, and coordination with instructional staff
- Familiarity with Wärtsilä simulation and training solutions (preferred)
Demonstrates expertise in maritime training operations, including the development and execution of training scenarios, while ensuring compliance with maritime rules and effective communication procedures. Proficient in operating shipboard simulation systems and coordinating maintenance activities to support cadet training at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
