Mitchell College seeks to hire a student-centered early career professor to serve as Instructor or Assistant Professor of Sport Management.  The successful candidate will serve as curriculum subject matter expert for Sport Management in collaboration with faculty across the R. Carlson Division of Business. The Sport Management program is organized under the Business Division and Sport Management faculty report to the Division  addition to acting as curriculum subject matter expert, the successful candidate will lead the continued development of Sport Management as an applied, interdisciplinary program within the R.

Carlson Division of Business. Working collaboratively with Faculty, Athletics, Enrollment Management, Career Services, and external partners, the new faculty member will help build a distinctive program that integrates business fundamentals, sport-industry knowledge, experiential learning, and career preparation. The position requires an educator who can deliver outstanding student experience in and out of the classroom, while driving the strategic growth, differentiation, and long-term sustainability of the program.
** Responsibilities:
*** Teach 24 semester hours per academic year.
* As the division’s Sport Management subject matter expert, lead the review and redesign of Sport Management curriculum to ensure strong integration of business, management, marketing, finance, communication, data-informed decision-making, and emerging developments in the sport industry.
* Collaborate with Business and Hospitality faculty to develop shared courses, concentrations, certificates, and interdisciplinary pathways that reduce curricular duplication while expanding student choice.
* Assist the Division Chair in building the schedule of Sport Management classes each semester and in hiring and on-boarding part-time Sport Management faculty.
* Participate in student recruitment and retention activities as part of the Division of Business team.
* Build relationships with professional, collegiate, community, and youth sport organizations throughout southeastern Connecticut and the broader New England region.
* Work to achieve excellence in three criteria:
Teaching & Mentoring, Professional Development Activities, College Involvement and Service to the Community.
* Fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a faculty member as defined in the Master Contract (American Federation of Teachers, Local #3249).## Qualifications
* ** At the Rank of Assistant Professor:
** An earned doctorate in business, management, or a related field, from an accredited institution, along with a masters degree related to the business of sports.
