Overview
The Concept Formulation (CONFORM) team oversees EB's concept development work which includes leading SSN(X) and program insertion studies, research and development (R&D) efforts, university and small business outreach, payload integration, and warfare analysis. The CONFORM department champions the continuous infusion of war fighting capability into submarines to maintain EB's leadership position within the industry, and to ensure that U.S. submarines remain relevant in the future world of undersea warfare.
Groups within CONFORM include SSN(X), R&D, and Capability Insertion. This requisition is for positions in the Capability Insertion group.
EB is the premier integrator of weapons, unmanned systems, and manned submersibles aboard U.S. nuclear submarines. The Capability Insertion group is responsible for surveying emerging technologies in various payload areas to identify potential opportunities for incorporation into current and future submarines.
Responsibilities may include:This position involves project development, management, and integration and:
- Development of communication strategies to support future programs
- Supporting CONFORM project development, management, and execution for a variety of tasks related to the integration of future capabilities into the design of submarines and related undersea systems
- Interface and coordination with many of EB’s functional groups (Engineering/Design, Contracts, Finance, Purchasing, Legal, and Virginia Program Office), subcontractors, and vendors
- Support future warfighter analysis and related workshops
- Drive development of content for EB participation in key conferences
- Support, plan and execute tours for Design and Engineering at Electric Boat Groton and Quonset Point facilities
- Support trade space studies, as well as development of new ship concepts
- Frequent interface with both military and commercial customers is required
- Some travel is expected
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering
- A minimum of three years of post graduate engineering experience or project management experience in a business setting
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense
- Experience with ship integration tasks and/or projects is desired
- Broad knowledge of Electric Boat business operations and interactions among organizations, e.g. Finance, Contracts, Legal, Engineering, Design, Planning Yard, Program Offices and Operations, is desired
- Basic understanding of unmanned systems and submarine missions and requirements.
- Project management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills to manage tasks concurrently are required.
- Must be highly motivated and a self-starter who can develop relevant details from general requirements.
- Desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- The ability to simultaneously coordinate multiple different tasks for different customers.
