Overview
As a Process Engineer you will be part of a dynamic technical team driving manufacturing efficiency and productivity in a plant environment. You will apply Engineering principles to technical projects while researching and finding innovative and cost-effective means to improve safety, quality, and delivery.
Essential Job Functions- Provides engineering leadership in efforts to maintain process control and improve quality
- Analyzes manufacturing processes to identify and execute improvements utilizing lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies
- Monitor and control equipment to improve production
- Supports production to ensure attainment of business goals, working directly with manufacturing personnel to ensure consistent process operations
- Investigate and resolve casting defects (e.g., porosity, inclusions, runouts, shrinkage)
- Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods
- Manages specification, selection and execution of major capital and tooling acquisitions in order to drive technology improvements that positively impact Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Inventory
- Ensures all work is in compliance with environmental, health and safety standards, industry specifications, customer requirements, company standards and related specifications
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma Tools, at minimum a willingness to learn and apply the tools
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Effective communication skills, including listening, verbal and written
- Understanding of material engineering
- Self-motivated, data-driven problem solver with a proven track record of process improvement
- Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment, including lifting materials up to 50 lbs
- Reports directly to the Process Engineering Manager
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science
- Knowledge of investment casting technology, processes and manufacturing methods are preferable
- 3-5 years related experience preferred
- Strong statistical process control knowledge
