Department 341 Welding & NDT Engineering – Suppliers and Strategic Sourcing is looking for an additional team member to support onboarding of a new supplier.
BasicJob Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated on-site support to supplier developing NAVSEA Technical Publication welding program.
- Support supplier in qualifying new welding procedures.
- Review and approve supplier welding procedures.
- Offer insight and guidance in the development of quality procedures that support welding program.
- Provide direct oversight and continued assessment of supplier weld program performance.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise with respect to construction support, problem resolution and corrective actions for welding performed by supplier.
- Maintain company standards, procedures, best practices, and process improvements in the field of welding.
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering.
- 5+ years of post graduate related engineering experience.
- Degree in Materials Science or Welding Engineering.
- Three or more years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication, or shipbuilding applications.
- The ability to read and understand component specifications, military specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Experience working with basic arc welding processes and an understanding of the fundamentals of welding metallurgy.
- Experience with the development and qualification of weld procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with both a technical and nontechnical audience.
- Candidate must be highly motivated, perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations, including interfacing regularly with SUPSHIP or NAVSEA customers, in an engineering environment.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work and support multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
