Cleaning Services
Under direct supervision, performs daily cleaning tasks in classrooms, lounges, restrooms, offices and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Facilities Services Department.
Responsibilities- Perform basic cleaning functions following established schedules and prescribed methods including dusting, damp wiping surfaces, polishing metal and porcelain fixtures, mopping and sanitizing floors, and spot cleaning walls and windows.
- Shampoo and vacuum carpets, remove waste from wastebaskets, and replenish room supplies.
- Use and maintain industrial cleaning equipment; recommend repairs as needed; measure and mix cleaning chemicals and assist in emergency spills upon request.
- Observe and report repairs needed for furniture, buildings, and fixtures; assist in snow removal, event set up, and other duties as assigned.
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach; frequently required to talk, hear, and smell; occasionally required to climb step ladders or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently required to climb stairs, lift and or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision required to inspect work.
Work EnvironmentFrequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock; noise level usually quiet.
Qualifications- Valid driver's license.
- Demonstrated understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment in custodial field.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in written form.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
