Overview

Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear powered submarines for the US Navy. We are experiencing a period of growth in our Lead Bonder Department. We provide training to teach you how to excel as a Lead Bonder if you are eager to learn.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret construction drawings with basic mathematical ability.
  • Layout, cut, assemble and install lead panels inside lead bays.
  • Caulk lead panels into place using pneumatic tools.
  • Serve as a designated lead worker/heavy metal employee, including complying with required annual physicals and blood work.
  • Maintain qualification as radiation worker.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs to support installation and manufacturing tasks.
  • Shower and change into non-contaminated clothing on site as part of lead working tasks.
  • Develop working knowledge of structural fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations.
  • Work with company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures.

Qualifications
  • Must have a High School diploma, GED, or be a current High School Senior, OR have 2+ years of relevant technical experience
  • 0-5 years of experience relevant to this job description
  • CNC operation experience and knowledge
  • Must be able to work all shifts and in all environments as well as Radiological areas of the boat
  • Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
Preferred
  • Additional preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
  • Previous metal fabrication experience
  • Military shipbuilding, manufacturing and automotive industry experience
Skills
  • Willing to accept road job assignments
  • Must be able to follow all safety procedures, lead compliance plan and technical work documents associated with daily work assignments as a Lead Bonder
