Mitchell College is conducting a national search for a Nursing Simulation Facilitator to direct the simulation practice portion of the courses in Mitchell College's 4-year, direct entry bachelor of nursing science (BSN) program. The incumbent's work includes both simulation program administration, and the development, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality instruction for students in the simulation lab setting. Responsibilities may include facilitating nursing science laboratory and clinical instruction during emergencies and other unforeseen events.

Institutional-specific duties are also required.

Essential Duties:

Under the direction of Mitchell College's Director of Nursing, the Nursing Simulation Facilitator is accountable for these essential duties:

* Simulation Administration Duties:
The Nursing Simulation Facilitator oversees all aspects of simulation operations at Mitchell College and serves as the primary contact for simulation activities for students, faculty, staff, and external partners. Responsibilities include conducting annual and periodic maintenance of simulation equipment and facilities, orienting and supporting faculty and staff in simulation principles and activities, and recommending upgrades based on advancements in simulation education.

Additionally, the coordinator is expected to develop an evidence-based simulation policy and procedure manual that is in compliance with state and federal standards. Other duties include developing and managing a simulation budget, ordering and tracking simulation supplies and reference materials, allocating resources in a cost-effective manner, and completing an annual nursing simulation report.

* Simulation Instruction Duties:
The Nursing Simulation Facilitator is accountable for facilitating high-quality student simulation instruction across diverse simulation fidelities. The utilization of nursing informatics and teaching strategies such as debriefing sessions is essential. Specific instruction duties include serving as a substitute clinical, laboratory, and simulation lab instructor when faculty emergencies and unforeseen events occur.

* Institutional-Specific Duties:
The Nursing Simulation Facilitator will attend and participate in convocation and commencement ceremonies, serve on assigned committees and task forces, and participate in professional, staff, and informational meetings. Meetings and events are occasionally scheduled during evening and weekend hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates are required to have an active, unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license in the state of Connecticut, a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and a minimum of a Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program of nursing. A current certificate in simulation from an accredited organization such as the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) is also required.

To be considered for the position, candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in simulation nursing instruction and evaluation methods, knowledge of simulation course design, and familiarity with the accreditation process at institutions of higher learning.

Candidates must possess a deep commitment to diversity. Incumbents must have proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills along with strong information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and TEAMS.

Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle is also required.

Individuals moving to the hiring process must complete required health indicators such as immunizations (e.g. MMR, chicken pox, influenza, and others required by clinical agencies), titers, and tuberculosis screening at the time of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

* An earned doctorate in nursing such as a Ph.D., DNP, or Ed.D. from an accredited institution of higher learning

* Professional portfolio with demonstrated excellence in scholarship, teaching, and research

* Five or more years of full-time experience in higher education

* Four or more years of experience as a full-time nursing simulation coordinator

* Four or more years of full-time experience with Ability Based Education (ABE)

* Peer-reviewed publication in the nursing or interdisciplinary healthcare journals and texts

* Current Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification

* Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification

* Current International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) certification

* Current Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification
