Position Overview:
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment at the district's Adult Education site. This role involves monitoring the facility's entrances and exits, patrolling the premises, responding to incidents, and ensuring that all individuals in the building are safe. The Security Guard is a key member of the team, helping to enforce building policies and providing support to staff and students as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facility Monitoring:
Oversee the security of the building by monitoring all entrances and exits, ensuring that only authorized individuals enter the facility. - Patrols:
Conduct regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the premises to deter and detect any unusual or suspicious activities. - Incident Response:
Respond promptly to any incidents, emergencies, or security breaches, and take appropriate action to resolve the situation while ensuring the safety of all individuals on-site. - Visible Presence:
Maintain a visible presence in the building to deter potential security threats and to provide a sense of safety and security to staff, students, and visitors. - Policy Enforcement:
Assist in enforcing building policies and procedures, including checking identification, managing access control, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. - Support to Staff and Students:
Provide assistance and support to staff, students, and visitors as needed, including offering directions, answering questions, answering telephone calls, and addressing concerns. - Documentation:
Keep detailed logs of any incidents, security breaches, or unusual activities that occur during the shift, and report these to the appropriate authorities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience:
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred. - Skills:
Strong observational skills, ability to remain calm under pressure, and effective communication skills. - Certifications:
Security guard certification or license, as required by state law preferred. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods; ability to respond quickly to emergencies. - Availability:
Must be available to work day and/or evening hours, including some weekends as needed.
Preferred Requirements:
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.
Working Conditions:
This position requires working indoors and outdoors, often in a standing or walking position for the majority of the shift. The Evening Security Guard must be prepared to respond to emergencies and handle potentially stressful situations.
