Department 428 Electrical Systems is looking for a highly motivated software engineer tojointhe Monitoring & Control System Group.

The Monitoring & Control Systems Group is a COLUMBIA Program dedicated team responsible for the development of the Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Monitoring and Control (HMC) system. The HMC system is a networked based system that provides signal conditioning and electrical flow paths for control,indication, monitoring, and alarms based on sensor (e.g.temperature, pressure, salinity) data. HMC features comprehensive use of network switches, servers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and display panelslocatedthroughout the ship for monitoring and control.

The HMC system develops andmaintainsthe software codeforall ofthe applications, including C++,Javaand ladder logic for PLCs.

Primary Technical tasks may include:

• Developing,managing and executing software codeand associated unit tests

• Supporting software functional qualification testing

• Maintaining cybersecurity, interfacerequirementsand specifications

• Maintaining formal software requirements documentation

• Supporting system qualification testing

• Supporting system/componentlogisticsdocumentation including technical manuals, ship systemmanualsand operating instructions

• Developing written correspondence, technicalpapersand presentations for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)

Occasional travel may berequiredfor this position.

Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineeringor related engineering degree with electrical, computer or software concentration.

• Must be able to obtain andmaintaina security clearance through the DOD

• 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience relevant to the job description.

Preferred:

• Experience working in a Linux environment

• Previous Navy experience

• Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix PLCs

• Experience with project management and systems engineering practices and principles including configuration management, Microsoft®Project and DOORS

• Proficiency with C/C++, Java, SQL, and/or PLC ladder logic
• Understanding of software development lifecycle
• Familiarity with developing hardened applications
• Knowledge of Military system orcomponentdevelopment for Naval Platforms
• Familiarity with JIRA, Gitlab
• Familiarity with microservice software architecture
