Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Diagnostic Imaging, the Multi‑Modality Technologist performs general radiologic procedures along with CT and/or DEXA procedures requiring advanced technical skills. The technologist demonstrates a high understanding of complicated requests from internal and external providers and performs X‑Ray, CT and/or DEXA procedures without constant supervision. The role requires the ability to work in many different areas, providing coverage for Outpatients, Inpatients, Portables, Emergency Room, OR, and Fluoroscopy, and is expected to perform at the highest potential of the license.
Responsibilities- Operate imaging equipment while performing X‑Ray, CT and/or DEXA procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy.
- Review medical record/referral order for patient history and pertinent clinical information.
- Transfer patient to imaging table, explain procedure and position the patient according to protocol.
- Monitor patient well‑being during exams; recognize discomfort or medical problems and take appropriate action. Use proper positioning techniques.
- Guide patients through the process by kindly explaining steps and answering questions and concerns regarding the exam process: pre‑exam processing, performing the exam, and post‑exam documentation.
- Keep patient schedule and attempt to accommodate add‑on patients when requested. Communicate delays or changes in the schedule to the appropriate person(s).
- Exercise sound judgment regarding image quality; determine when repeats are necessary.
- Use the ALARA concept to minimize patient radiation doses. Document and report any over‑exposure and advise management immediately.
- Follow all safety procedures including appropriate use of PPE.
- Maintain cleanliness of all rooms, machines and cassettes in the department. Stock room supplies as needed.
- Utilize applicable aspects of the Radiology Information System.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Contribute to radiology student learning, growth, and advancement by sharing knowledge through hands‑on learning, constructive feedback and mentoring.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

- Serve and protect the hospital community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures in addition to federal, state, and local requirements.
- Associate’s Degree – Radiology Technology or equivalent
- Registered with the ARRT with advanced certification(s) in CT or Bone Density
- Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the State of New Hampshire
