Purpose of the Role
This role exists to safeguard lives and property by ensuring the highest standards of fire safety compliance across a diverse range of premises. Through diligent risk assessment, expert advice, and proactive engagement with clients, the position plays a vital part in fostering safe environments for businesses, employees, and the wider community. By staying abreast of evolving legislation and best practices, the Fire Safety Officer helps clients meet their legal obligations and encourages a culture of continual improvement in fire prevention and emergency preparedness.
Role DescriptionThe Fire Safety Officer will be responsible for conducting Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) in a range of normal and medium risk premises, primarily located in South and West Wales. All assessments will be carried out in accordance with current legislation and best practices, using appropriate FRA software applications. Key responsibilities include preparing FRA reports and action plans, advising clients on fire safety compliance and legal obligations, and identifying necessary training requirements.
The role also requires staying informed about fire safety legislation, codes of practice, and industry developments, and supporting clients in developing and implementing fire evacuation plans and emergency procedures.
Above all, candidates should demonstrate drive, conscientiousness, and a willingness to learn and develop. If current qualifications do not fully meet the criteria, we may still consider applicants who possess the right mindset, attitude, and a good fit for the business and its clients.
Desirable Qualifications- Level 3 or 4 qualification in Fire Safety or Fire Risk Assessing
- NEBOSH Certificate in Construction with Fire
- IFSM Registration (Institute of Fire Safety Managers) – Tier 1 or Tier 2
- NEBOSH Construction (Fire Certificate)
- Competence in conducting basic Fire Risk Assessments
- IT literacy and familiarity with smart products and applications
- Possession of a valid driving licence and own transport
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and effective problem‑solving abilities
This position may be available on either a full‑time or part‑time basis. It may also be suited to graduate candidates seeking a 6‑ or 12‑month placement with the potential for ongoing employment.
