Superintendent/Foreman – Job Overview

The Superintendent/Foreman manages daily site activities to ensure projects are constructed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to design specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Daily communication with General Superintendents regarding workforce and equipment needs.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors; monitor their work to ensure completion per agreements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, identify hazards, and take corrective action.
  • Conduct daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box talks.
  • Keep daily logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and time cards.
  • Manage field personnel fairly, addressing performance issues promptly.
  • Participate in pre‑construction and project lifecycle meetings.
  • Document safety issues, equipment damage, and injuries per company policies.
  • Inspect field work and materials for quality compliance; review drawings before work begins.
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
  • Support ongoing training in construction methods and safety; encourage staff training opportunities.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 2‑5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OSHA 10‑hour (preferred), OSHA 30‑hour, HAZWOPER, Excavating Safety, Blueprint, CPR, First Aid certifications (required or preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel; ability to use iPad/iPhone.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to schedule and communicate project needs.
  • Ability to interpret policies, reports, plans, specifications, and technical instructions.
  • Mathematical competency (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and be over 18.
  • Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Position requires 8‑10 hour work days and occasional weekends.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to lift/move up to 50 lbs; sit, stand, walk, bend, stretch, talk, hear; occasionally stoop or kneel.

Work Environment

Exposure to environmental conditions, nearby machines, loud noise, variable weather, and terrain.
