Are you a dedicated General Medicine physician looking to make a meaningful impact while maintaining flexibility? Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a trusted government contractor aiding our nation's Veterans, is seeking qualified Locum Physicians to provide essential Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across New Mexico. In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments supplemented by physical examinations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing. No prescribing or treatment is involved, making it an ideal position for experienced physicians with a background in general medicine or compensation and pension evaluations. You will utilize your expertise to deliver crucial evaluations, supporting the wellbeing of Veterans.
Responsibilities- Conduct interview-based assessments supplemented by physical examinations (including range of motion and muscle strength testing).
- No prescribing or treatment is involved.
- Provide essential Compensation & Pension evaluations and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans.
- Maintain accuracy and confidentiality in all documentation and reports.
- Required Skills:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Valid medical license in New Mexico
- Experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
- Ability to perform interview-based assessments and basic physical exams
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Commitment to accuracy and confidentiality
- Nice to Have
Skills:- Prior experience with VA or Military-related evaluations
- Certification in disability examinations or compensation & pension assessments
- Familiarity with medical documentation and report writing
- Preferred
Education and Experience:- Minimum of 2 years in clinical practice in general medicine or relevant specialty
- Prior experience in disability evaluations or military healthcare beneficial but not mandatory
- Own a medical office within a 50-mile radius of specified locations (Silver City or Deming, Hobbs, Grants, NM)
- Availability for 4-hour or 8-hour shifts, 1-2 days per week
- Willingness to perform one-time exams and administrative follow-ups contingent on rate structure
- No travel reimbursements for certifications or portal training; rates include travel costs when applicable
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $624.00, with a flat rate of $800 for half-day shifts and $1,600 for full days. A $650 bonus is available upon completing all initial training and first exams.
