Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
• Ability to work effectively with young children and adapt communication style based on individual needs
• Comfort working as a 1:1 interpreter, supporting language acquisition and classroom participation
• Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
• Relevant certifications or credentials for sign language interpretation in school environments

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct sign language interpreting services to a Pre-K 4 student to facilitate access to instruction, classroom activities, and peer interaction
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other service providers to support the student's development and successful integration
• Adapt interpreting techniques based on age-appropriate communication and classroom context
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interpreting services
• Contribute to IEP meetings or planning sessions if required to ensure comprehensive support for the student
