Responsibilities
As Transitional Teacher (Early Childhood) you will provide instruction at the professional level, serving as a classroom teacher, team teacher or remedial or special services teacher as per the school setting and organizational structure.
- Prepares yearly instructional outlines and related daily lesson plans covering relevant units of study and specifying objectives, activities, and evaluative methods/instruments for both group and individual programs.
- Teaches students by selecting, developing, adapting, and implementing appropriate instructional methods and techniques utilizing available resources to provide academic achievement. Provides learning experiences in assigned subject areas that develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills appropriate to the needs of all students.
- Continuously evaluates individual and group academic progress using criterion‑reference tests, periodic standardized tests, oral tests, and other relevant evaluation methods. Uses alternative instruction to meet individual needs.
- Makes progress reports
· to parents, confers with parents and other concerned individuals, and maintains required records in accordance with applicable regulations. - Maintains control of assigned class and handles discipline independently, except for chronic or extreme behavior problems. Counsels individual students within established guidelines using background information to provide an effective instruction learning cycle related to behavior and progress.

- Must be willing to enroll in an Alternative Licensure program to obtain and maintain valid Teacher licensure/certification in the state where the position is located and in the specialty field identified in the announcement. The position will be placed on provisional status for three contract terms while enrolled and participating in the program.

- Probationary period is one academic year during which fitness and continued employment will be evaluated.
- Initial appointments under Public Law 95‑561 do not confer competitive or career status.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and licensure requirements described below.
Basic Education & Licensure Requirement- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited institution.
- Provide proof of enrollment in a local state’s alternative teaching licensure/certificate program within 90 days of the start date.
- Enrollment should be for the appropriate endorsement/subject field as identified in the announcement.
- Applicants with DODEA certification may work directly with states for reciprocity licensure if state does not require enrollment in the Alternative Licensure program.

Pay setting is based on degree and is limited to Pay Level 14. Pay setting is determined after the selection process.
- Pay Level 11 requires a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Pay Level 12 requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 15 graduate semester hours.
- Pay Level 13 requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 30 graduate semester hours.
- Pay Level 14 requires a Master’s Degree.
- Bargaining Unit Status:
Position is covered by the Bargaining Unit/Union – Federation of Indian Service Employees, American Federation of Teachers Local 4521. - This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
