Job Description Qualifications
  • Properly certified in all areas of assignment
  • Demonstrates cooperativeness and willingness to carry out assigned tasks and performance responsibilities
  • Bilingual Endorsement; ESL/TESOL Endorsement as appropriate for each School Site
  • Be Highly Qualified
  • Other qualifications determined necessary by the Board
Responsibilities
  • Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to students in a classroom using State Standards/Benchmarks and the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education
  • Instruct students in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and district regulations and procedures
  • Develop and implement lesson/unit plans that address standards and benchmarks in the written curriculum for effective instruction
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize instructional time
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
  • Record student grades and other appropriate information into cumulative files and grade sheets
  • Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly or sooner as needed, through conferences and other means to discuss student progress, behavior, and program interpretation
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members to assess and help students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
  • Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays and bulletin boards
  • Maintain professional development through in-service education and self-selected activities
  • Participate cooperatively with the administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines
  • Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities or assignments
  • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program
  • Administer the IPT as needed
  • Gather data to develop strategies for student improvement
  • Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities, including in- and out-of-school activities
  • Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments, revisions, inclusive of bilingual development programs, and implement EPSS
  • Attend and participate in principal meetings and parent-teacher organization meetings
  • Implement the teaching competencies adopted by the Board of Education
  • Be technology literate
  • Perform other tasks as may be deemed appropriate and necessary by supervisors

Position Type: Full‑Time

Employment Type: Elementary Classroom Teacher

Term of Employment: Term to be established by the Board of Education on an annual basis through adoption of the School Calendar.

Salary: Salary to be established by the Board of Education through adoption of salary schedules.

Evaluation: Performance evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Reports To: Principal(s) or designee

General Supervisor: Superintendent
