Location: Holloman Air Force Base
Duties
* Provides individual career, academic, and force development advisement to military personnel of all ranks, their dependents, and/or civilian personnel pursuing undergraduate/graduate, vocational, technical, licensure/certification, and professional development opportunities at various levels.
* Assesses program effectiveness. Consistently assesses overall program effectiveness by sampling student, instructor, and commanders' needs, validating suggestions and complaints, examining drop-out rates and enrollment trends.
* Plans and administers a variety of education programs that range from basic education programs to Master's degree programs in order to meet the needs of the active duty personnel and DoD civilians.
* Serves as the installation technical expert for the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF). Maintains contact with CCAF personnel, including the Dean of the College, to resolve difficult issues.
* Performs a variety of outreach to promote educational programs.
* Performs a variety of administrative and customer service duties related to the educational counseling program. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Disclosure of Political Appointments.
* Must meet the positive education requirements as stipulated by US OPM for the 1740 occupational series.
* Requires an extensive knowledge of Department of Defense objectives, policies, procedures, or pertinent regulatory requirements affecting civilian and military education/training programs and the ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work (cont'd) * (cont'd) operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources as applicable.
* Work occasionally requires travel away from the normal duty station.
* Personnel data to which the incumbent has access is controlled by the Privacy Act of 1974 and must be safeguarded appropriately.
* Must keep abreast of developments in the educational counseling field and career field needs of the Air Force as well as occupational needs in civilian life by regularly reading a variety of professional journals and related publications.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, GS-1740 Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the position to be filled in one or a combination of the areas described below. At least one course must have been from (1) or (2) below: (1) Tests and measurement:
Study of the selection, evaluation, administration, scoring, interpretation, and uses of group and individual aptitude, proficiency, interest, and other tests. (2) Adult education:
Study of the adult as a learner, teaching-learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities. (3) Educational program administration:
Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs. (4) Curriculum development or design:
Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs. (5) Teaching methods:
Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner. (6) Guidance and counseling:
Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation. (7) Career planning:
Study of career development, learning activities, systems, approaches, program coordination, use of educational and community resources, and vocational counseling systems. (8) Occupational information:
Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process. Identification and utilization of various types of occupational information and resources.
