Teacher (178 days 7.0 hours per day). Salary from $55,000 subject to education and experience verifications.
Position Summary: The Title I Reading Interventionist is responsible for carrying out the duties of a Reading Interventionist. Primary responsibility includes student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn, including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare.
Supervision: Works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of a designated school administrator. Work governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities- Communicate effectively and professionally with staff from K to Grade 5.
- Coordinate efforts to support literacy with students in grades K to Grade 5.
- Work under the direct supervision of the Building Principal and indirect supervision of the Program Coordinator.
- Maintain a lab environment conducive to effective learning.
- Provide instruction, modeling, and coaching in structured literacy to teachers in grades K-5.
- Carry out designated duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator, including:
- Ensure student records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Prepare required reports.
- Order instructional materials.
- Supervise students and instructional assistants (if applicable) assigned to the labs.
- Ensure goals and objectives of the program are being met.
- Implement district‑determined reading program with fidelity.
- Maintain open communication between Reader Intervention classroom and content area classes.
- Attend programmatic meetings.
- Attend workshops and in‑services as directed by the Program Coordinator.
- Provide in‑service training to teaching staff and parents as needed.
- Maintain and update all required documentation for the program and Title I grant requirements.
- Ensure gains (as per program objectives) are maintained.
- Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
- Valid State of New Mexico Teaching License.
- Degree in Language Arts, or related subject areas at appropriate level (elementary or secondary).
- Must meet all requirements set by the State of New Mexico Public Education Department.
- Level III Licensure with Reading Endorsement preferred.
- Receptive to the following philosophies of the program:
- Diagnostic‑Prescriptive Approach to Language Arts‑Reading from the designated district program and other programs as determined with consultation from Program Coordinator.

- Must establish and maintain rapport with Program Coordinator, Principal, Parents, Students, and Instructional Assistants (if any).
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from students and parents.
- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.
- Apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
- Plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students assigned.
