- Valid New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) teaching license with appropriate elementary endorsement(s) for assignment.
- Properly certified in all assigned content areas and grade levels.
- Bilingual Endorsement preferred and/or required based upon assignment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of elementary instructional practices, child development, curriculum implementation, and assessment practices.
- Demonstrates cooperativeness, professionalism, flexibility, and willingness to carry out assigned duties and performance responsibilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Knowledge of instructional technology and student data systems preferred.
- Other qualifications determined necessary by the Board and Superintendent.

Job Goal:
To provide high-quality elementary instruction and create a classroom environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and positive student relationships. To develop foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and related content areas while fostering student engagement, critical thinking, responsible citizenship, and readiness for future academic success.
Instruction and Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned to New Mexico Content Standards, district curriculum, and instructional expectations.
- Teach reading, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health, physical education, art, and other assigned elementary content areas utilizing district-approved curriculum and instructional practices.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
- Translate curriculum into meaningful learning experiences that maximize instructional time and student engagement.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies including small-group instruction, intervention, project-based learning, technology integration, and student-centered instructional practices.
- Incorporate bilingual instructional practices and language supports where appropriate and applicable.
- Maintain lesson plans and instructional documentation as required by district expectations.
MLSS Implementation and Student Support
- Implement the district's Multi-Layered System of Supports (MLSS) framework through universal instruction, targeted interventions, progress monitoring, and data-based decision making.
- Participate in student support teams and collaborate with intervention staff to develop, implement, monitor, and adjust academic and behavioral supports.
- Identify student academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional needs and coordinate appropriate interventions and services.
- Establish and maintain expectations for student behavior that support a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning through effective organization, displays, instructional materials, and student engagement.
Assessment and Student Achievement
- Assess and monitor student academic and social growth using formal and informal assessment measures aligned to district and state expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessment results, intervention documentation, and student performance data.
- Analyze student achievement and progress-monitoring data to develop and implement instructional adjustments and improvement strategies.
- Prepare and communicate progress reports in accordance with district procedures.
- Administer district and state assessments, standardized tests, language assessments, and benchmark assessments as assigned.
