Location: Cuba

Substitute Teacher (K-12)

Cuba Independent School District is seeking dedicated and qualified substitute teachers to provide exceptional instruction and support to students in grades K-12. As a substitute teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining continuity in the learning environment when regular teachers are absent. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about education, flexible, and committed to fostering a positive and productive classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-planned lesson content to students according to the regular teacher's instructions and guidelines.
  • Ensure that the curriculum is covered and that learning objectives are met.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
  • Manage student behavior effectively, following the school's discipline policies.
  • Offer assistance to students as needed, answer questions, and provide guidance in understanding assignments.
  • Take attendance and report it according to school procedures.
  • Report any attendance or discipline issues to the appropriate school personnel.
  • Be prepared to teach a variety of subjects and grade levels.
  • Adapt to different classroom settings and teaching styles.
  • Communicate with the school office and the regular teacher regarding any classroom concerns, incidents, or notable achievements.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality, and conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Active teaching license or substitute teaching certificate in the state of New Mexico (required).
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and the ability to work effectively in a diverse classroom environment.
  • Reliability and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • A passion for education and a commitment to the well-being and success of students.
  • Experience with virtual learning environments.
  • 3-Hour observation with Cuba Independent School District (coordinated by CISD if applicant is selected to join the district).

Working Conditions:

This is an on-call, part-time position, and hours may vary depending on school needs. Work assignments can range from one day to several weeks. Substitute teachers must be available to accept assignments with short notice.
