Position Summary:

Tutoring & Academic Support

Provide individualized and small-group tutoring to students across a variety of academic disciplines. Assist students in developing effective study skills, learning strategies, and academic habits. Support students in improving comprehension, critical thinking, problem-solving, and course-related skills. Reinforce classroom learning through guided practice, review, and academic coaching. Encourage student confidence, independence, and self-advocacy in the learning process.

Student Success Programming

Develop and facilitate workshops in collaboration with CASA staff and faculty, including: study skills and note-taking strategies, time management and organization, test preparation and test-taking strategies, goal setting and academic planning, reading comprehension and learning strategies, student success and college navigation skills. Assist with peer-led study groups and learning sessions. Adapt workshop content to meet the needs of diverse student populations.

Collaboration & Program Support

Collaborate with CASA staff, advisors, faculty, and student support personnel to promote student success and retention. Refer students to appropriate campus resources when additional support is needed. Participate in meetings, training sessions, and planning activities. Contribute to initiatives that strengthen student engagement, persistence, and completion.

Training & Professional Development

Complete required tutor training and certification requirements. Participate in ongoing professional development related to tutoring, mentoring, student success, and academic support services. Remain informed about tutoring best practices and campus resources.

Technology & Academic Skills Support

Assist students with:
Canvas Learning Management System, university systems and applications, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), basic educational technologies and online learning tools. Provide support for presentations, research projects, and academic assignments.

Administrative & Program Support

Maintain accurate tutoring records and documentation. Assist with scheduling, attendance tracking, and program reporting as requested. Maintain organized and welcoming tutoring and study spaces. Support general CASA operations and student service activities.

Outreach & Engagement

Participate in outreach activities, special events, and student engagement initiatives. Promote CASA tutoring services and student success programs. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.

Required:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations. Strong academic performance and content knowledge in one or more subject areas. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Canvas or willingness to learn. Dependable, organized, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred:
Good academic standing. Previous tutoring, peer mentoring, coaching, or leadership experience. Experience working with college students. Demonstrated commitment to student success and educational equity.
