Community Schools Site Coordinator

The Community Schools Site Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of community school efforts. Facilitates the implementation and management of the development of community school activities, events, programs, and services. Is responsible for building relationships with school staff and community partners, for the purpose of engaging families and community residents, and coordinating an efficient delivery of support to students both inside and outside of the classroom.

Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Initiate needs and assets assessment and perform gap analysis of needs and outreach to providers to make available relevant services.
  • Assist in identifying community organizations, social services agencies, businesses, and individuals who might contribute to the development of the community school.
  • Contact, interview, and recruit potential community school parents and other citizens to actively participate and work cooperatively with the community school.
  • Advise the principal on how to integrate partners and community members into school governance structures (e.g., School Leadership, School Safety, Truancy teams).
  • Work with District Coordinator to Implement a menu of needs-driven, high-quality programs and services in adherence with the community school model, including but not limited to expanded learning and enrichment opportunities, health services, parent/family engagement, adult education, direct material assistance and interventions targeted to chronically absent students.
  • Ensure the alignment and integration of all programming with the principal's vision, EPSS goals and extended school-day curricula.
  • Work with the District Coordinator to support the research/evaluation of the community school by coordinating the collection of data, timely submission of reports, and responses as required for information.
  • Participate in capacity-building activities including site and community-based training, network meetings and study visits. With the principal, ensure the participation of other site and community stakeholders as needed or required.
  • Recruit and support staff and volunteers as needed or required.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of school district policies and procedures.
  • In addition to the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must perform the following duties:

    • Comply with the state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and uphold and enforce rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Articulate and facilitate the implementation of the mission and values of the Taos Municipal School.
    • Safeguard confidentiality of privileged information.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, district policy and administrative regulations.
    • Share the responsibility for the supervision and care of district inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and report safety hazards promptly.
    • Maintain professional relationships and work cooperatively with employees, the community, and other professionals.
    • Maintain professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities, and self-selected professional growth activities.
    • Attend and/or conduct staff and/or community partner meetings and participate on committees within area of responsibility.
    • Perform other tasks related to area of responsibilities as required or assigned by immediate supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BA Degree
    • Previous experience working with families, communities, and schools preferred.
    • Flexibility, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to build partnerships and maintain working relationships.
    • Basic knowledge of community school operations.
    • Knowledge of the Taos community and its resources.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • English/Spanish preferred.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse stakeholders.
    • Basic statistical analysis.
    • Basic mathematical operations.
    • Ability to create and interpret graphs and reports.
